The next 5 years will see Hucclecote double in size with a further 600 properties being build in our parish on the site of the old airfield. The development will total 1,900 houses spread across Hucclecote, Upton and Brockworth and will include a school on the southern side of the development.
Here is a provisional phasing plan for your reference and we will publish more details on the building schedule as soon as we have it. Click on the image to see a larger copy. The first plans have been received for approximately 200 properties bordering the business park and these can be viewed at the Council Office. It is difficult to say when building will actually begin but it is probably reasonable to think that there will be activity will have commenced by the summer. The Opening of Bird Road?
One of the biggest issues as yet unresolved is what will happen to the barrier at the end of Bird Road by the playground. There is a strong case for some access to open up our community rather than create two halves. But we must also be mindful that we could create a rat-run which increases the danger to our people, let alone the question of one of the playground entrances being right on this road. We are pushing TBC hard for a decision, ideally with some kind of controlled access being in place, allowing movement but making it unattractive to commuters or other avoidable traffic.
